The House Of The Lord By James E. Talmage

The House Of The Lord By James E. Talmage 238 pages
Deseret Book Company is proud to re-publish in modern format this classic of Church literature by the late scholar and general authority, Dr. James E. Talmage.
This volume will be an important aid to those who are going to the temple for the first time. It will also bring to all Latter-day Saints a greater appreciation of the significance of temple work in their lives.
In this treatise, first published in 1912, Dr. Talmage provides a background to temple work, describes the temple or sanctuaries of earlier dispensations, explains the need of temples in the present dispensation, and describes modern temple ordinances. He also discusses early Church temples at Kirtland and Nauvoo, and then writes in detail about the great temple at Salt Lake City, providing historical background, and exterior and interior descriptions. His text also includes Temple Block and other Utah temples.
In addition to the original text of the book, appendices have been added to this current edition to reflect the interior of the Salt Lake Temple as it is in 1968, along with the current buildings on Temple Square, and other temples of the Church which have been erected since Dr. Talmage wrote the original text.

This is a book which belongs in every Latter-day Saint home library.
