He also discusses early Church temples at Kirtland and Nauvoo, and then writes in detail about the great temple at Salt Lake City, providing historical background, and exterior and interior descriptions. His text also includes Temple Block and other Utah temples.
 In addition to the original text of the book, appendices have been added to this current edition to reflect the interior of the Salt Lake Temple as it is in 1968, along with the current buildings on Temple Square, and other temples of the Church which have been erected since Dr. Talmage wrote the original text.
