What does it mean to be a disciple of Christ, a true follower of the Master? And what traits should we develop to become such? Jesus said to those who believed his word, “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my word, then are ye my disciples indeed.” He also said, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” Throughout his life, the Savior taught and exemplified the traits his followers should acquire.
In The Disciple of Christ, Elder Vaughn J. Featherstone, a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, examines eight of these traits of a man or woman of Christ. He discusses reverence for the Savior, love for the words of Christ, courage, wisdom, Christian service, respect for the individual, righteous influence, and leadership. Using a wealth of inspiring stories, interesting quotations, and passages from the scriptures, he teaches what it means to follow the Savior.
