The New Testament For Today By W. Jeffrey Marsh & Ron R. Munns

The New Testament For Today By W. Jeffrey Marsh & Ron R. Munns 179 pages
Jesus Christ loves us just as he loved those among whom he walked and talked while living on the earth, for he is “the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever” (Hebrews 13:8). Does this mean that the wondrous miracles and precepts portrayed in the New Testament have the same relevance for us today?
Latter-day Saints would answer with a resounding “Yes!” This book, containing passages of scripture together with modern-day accounts and insights, affirms this knowledge. We read of Jesus telling the man sick of the palsy to “arise, and take up they bed”; we read of Joseph Smith commanding a dying Elijah Fordham to “arise and be made whole.” We review Jesus’ command to “love your enemies” we learn of a man in our day who gains a friend after serving an enemy. And we read of Jesus calming the winds and the sea, followed by accounts of the elements being tempered so that President David O. McKay could perform Church assignments. These and other modern-day examples are gleaned form the writings of prophets, scholars, and faithful lay members of the Church.
The New Testament for Today is a powerful witness of the constancy of God’s love. With insights and incidents both dramatic and profound, it shows how the New Testament can be a source of strength for us today while helping us prepare for tomorrow.
